Welcome to the wonderful world of third grade! Third grade is definitely filled with exciting and challenging experiences. The expectations are very high, but we will have a lot of fun along the way. Daily, weekly and monthly information will be posted  here, so be sure to check in often! ​Remember to wear gym uniform and sneakers on Physical Education days.
All SPECIALS start on the first full day of school (Friday, 9/7/18)
First day to wear P.E uniform is on Tuesday, September, 11, 2018

The Week of 5/20/19

Please send in $5 for our End of the Year celebration. This money is due on Monday, May 20th

The Walk-a-Thon is May 24th.  Our class shirt color is sky blue. 

There is no school on May 27th due to Memorial Day. 

There is no school on May 30th due to Ascension Thursday.

WALK-A-THON PERMISSION SLIPS ARE DUE TUESDAY, MAY 21st.

Our End of the Year celebration will be on Thursday, June 13th at 1:00 pm.  

Handwriting

Students should practice writing their first name and last name in cursive writing. They should be writing their name in cursive on all work. 

Extra Help 

The next Extra Help dates for May are 5/21/19, and 5/28/19..

There will be a Religion Chapter 13 test on Thursday, May 23rd.  The R Students should review pages 201-210, pages. Students must bring their Religion books back to class. Students can go to www.blestarewe.com. They can click on (students) and select Take a Quiz to review questions from Chapter 13. 

Math

Continue to practice multiplication facts. There will be a quiz on Thursday on the 12 times tables. Students will start learning about geometry.

ELA

There is no vocabulary or spelling test this week. We will start the novel Judy Moody Declares Independence. Students will get the vocabulary words for chapter 1-4 on 5/20, but will not be tested on them until next week.

Math

Students should practice their multiplication facts. Students need to memorize their 12x facts and review their 1-12 times table facts. There will be a quiz on Thursday on the 12 times tables.

PLEASE MAKE SURE YOUR CHILD HAS A NOTE WHEN THERE IS A CHANGE IN DISMISSAL.

January 22nd-The Tomorrow’s Hope Foundation Scholarship application process opens.

Many parents have showed interest in volunteering to assist the classroom teacher at the walk-a-thon. As long as you are Virtus trained then you are welcomed to join us in a fun filled day. Please be a school by 8:45 if you are planning on walking with us. 

I am pleased to tell you that we will be using a website called IXL in our classroom this year. IXL is a comprehensive learning program offering unlimited math practice across thousands of skills—all of which are aligned to New York Standards. One of the best things about IXL is that your child can access it from home, so you have a chance to see your child's progress!

To get your child started on your home computer, please follow these easy steps:

  2. Enter your child's username and password and click "Sign in."
  3. Click on any skill to start learning!

For Spelling homework, students are to choose a different activity each night for Mon., Tues., and Wed. New spelling menu for the month of November.

I will be offering Extra help on Tuesday morning at 7:30 in our classroom. All are welcome to attend! Start date is October 9, 2018


Dismissal Policy:
All changes in dismissal are to made by note to Ms. Tocci. If a note is not received, your child's regular dismissal will be followed. There are extra dismissal forms located in the Resources section to print at home. 

Absences: 
Please send in an absence note when your child returns to school, even if you have called the school. A note must be on file for all absences. 

Teacher Request: If anyone is able to donate to our class board games for inside recess such as Trouble, Connect Four, Sorry, Jenga, or Legos, it would be greatly appreciated
